Cars I saw stranded on my way into work: Maserati GranTurismo, Mercedes C250, Toyota 4Runner, Jeep Wrangler. I feel like two of these really, really don't belong.

I admire strongly whoever DD's a GranTurismo. Did you take the Phaeton?

No, no. They belong.
If I had a dollar for every "Bro, I have a jeep! I don't have to worry about snow!" moment, I could probably buy some jeep bro proper tires.
Things that look cool on jeeps:
Wide tires with big tread gaps
Things that help you in snow:
Skinny tires with many small tread gaps

How does one strand a Wrangler in 2 inches of snow?

If the 4Runner is RWD, I could see that happening. I DD a RWD T4R through the last Chicago winter, and there were some tricky times. I never got stuck, but I could see an average driver (I'm assuming I'm more skilled than the average driver) getting stuck.

I took the Galant, which has all-season tires, mind you. Dropped it into third, like a boss.

Big, chunky mud-look tires, RWD.

Maybe his tires are inner tubes slathered in bacon grease.

I admire Mr./Mrs. GranTurismo for trying, but did they even think they stood a chance?

A few weeks ago I was behind an AWD RAV4 in the snow. We were in about 2-3 inches of packed powder on an unplowed highway and the road was graded pretty steep to one side as we were on a curve. The RAV4 was sliding down the grade, diagonally fighting to stay up in it's lane. After a while I passed him and noticed the bald tires... not good man, not good.
(We were on our snow tires slowly cruising along behind the guy with about 10 other cars...)
AWD/4WD doesn't do you any good at all if you are running slicks...

Nope, the Galant is thankfully sorted. It just needed a new battery and an oil change. Imagine that! Also, the gas I had in it was kind of crap.

Mud tires. They suck in the snow.

This would be why I have super tall skinny bias plies on my Rover. Central tight pattern with side lug, very similar to what's on this CJ3B:

I know it could be done in a Jeep CJ7 at least. My stepdad used to have a CJ7 on 31's. Even with 4wd engaged, the Jeep was so light in the rear that it was difficult to keep it going in the snow. I could see an inexperienced driver getting one stuck, assuming the Wrangler isn't much different than the CJ.

You'd be surprised how many of the early 4 door JKs are 2WD.

I would, actually. No Jeep should be 2WD, and the Wrangler is supposed to appeal to the purist...

How in the hell do you get stuck in 2 inches of snow with a 4Runner/Wrangler? That just doesn't make any sense.

Having driven my 4Runner in much more snow than that, how? It barely felt like snow was there. Mine is even a pre-SC, TC 4Runner.
